Something Borrowed, Something Indigo

When I started planning my wedding I searched the internet for inspiration.  I found myself pinning style shoots and weddings with indigo accents, which was funny because my heart was set on a mixture of soft, natural tones.  I ended up with a colorful combination of neutrals and their bright counterparts, all so I could incorporate my new favorite wedding color, indigo.

Here are some of my favorite unique ways to add a dash of indigo to your wedding!

Napkins

From solid indigo to tie dye to Mediterranean prints, I love ALL of these place settings.  For my wedding, I ordered hand dyed indigo fabric from FabJaipur.  The Etsy shop, based in India, sent me multiple swatches so that I could find the pattern I loved.  They even put in a special order so that I could get 40 yards of my final selection!  Your guests will enjoy the pop of color and so will your photographer!

Bouquet Ribbon

Struggling to find that something blue?  Why not add indigo ribbon to your bouquet?  This is a great way to make your bouquet more bohemian and unique.  My favorite place to shop for ribbons is Feather and Stone (check out their Instagram for the most beautiful photos of their products).  Their plant based and hand dyed indigo Georgette Silk ribbon is STUNNING.  Looking to spend less?  Head to your local craft store with a friend to shop ribbons for you or all your maids!

Invitations

The days of white wedding invitations are over.  Couples are getting much more creative with these wedding day announcements, and I love that!  These beautiful blue works of art below were all inspiration for my invites.  I love tie dye and watercolor patterns, gold lettering, and colorful envelopes!  You can also order custom stamps at Minted to ensure your suite is completely unique and even the front of your envelope matches your style.

Wedding Cakes

To us, the most amazing thing about a blue cake is that it’s still so versatile.  Check out all of these beautiful examples below.  Incorporate brushes of silver or gold for a shimmery winter look.  Add some flowers to match your bohemian style.  Go ombre with an all white tier on top for your one year anniversary.  Add some blueberries, incorporate Portuguese tiles, or create a cake that looks just like agate!  The possibilities are endless.

Water Goblets

My favorite wedding tablescape decorations (after flowers, of course) are water goblets.  Indigo is a great offset to the whites, reds, pinks and greens in your floral arrangements.  Pair with a clear glass or choose another colored goblet for a really eclectic, colorful look.  I rented mine from Botanica Events in Sacramento and cannot wait to brighten up my farm tables with this colorful glassware!  Cheers to being bright and bold!

“Something Blue” stands for purity, love, and fidelity.  I think this is the perfect reason to incorporate this beautiful color  in your best day ever.  Share your indigo wedding on Instagram and hashtag #engagedlife so that I can enjoy!
