Banff is in our top ten most incredible places in the world. So when we stumbled upon Jessyka and Jordan’s proposal at Moraine Lake we couldn’t wait to see and share more from the day Jessyka’s dream came true. Lucky for us, the bride-to-be’s sister Sam is an incredible photographer and captured the morning in photos.
Jessyka and Jordan decided to head up to Banff to celebrate Canada Day. Jessyka thought it was her idea but secretly Jordan and her sister Sam had been planning the surprise behind her back (so sneaky)!
On July 1st, they woke up at 3am to drive two hours from Golden BC where they were staying to Moraine Lake. They planned to hike up the mountain and watch the sunrise. And so the adventure begins…
“When we got to the lodge, Jordan suggested that Sam wear Jaxzen (our 7 month old daughter) in the baby carrier. I thought that was a bit odd because he loves wearing her for hikes, but, I was just excited to get to the top of the mountain so it didn’t matter to me. I then leaned in to get the truck keys from Jordan, right into his pocket, thankfully my sister had the ring box, so still no hint that I’d be getting engaged. “
The five reached the top of the mountain just in time, Jessyka remembered the butterflies she’d had the night before. “How perfect would it be if he asked me to marry him tomorrow?”, she’d thought. Not wanting to ruin the already amazing trip, she talked herself out of setting expectations.
When the sun came up over the mountain Jordan asked Jessyka to take family photos and Sam grabbed her camera. She hurried over with Jaxzen in tow but Jordan asked her to hand her off to Uncle Justin. Kind of strange, she thought, but if your boyfriend is the one offering to take photos, you don’t complain!
“Once I was standing next to him, Jordan started to talk. When I looked into his eyes they were watery! He had this entire speech planned but all that came out was “You know how much I love you, right?… Like for the rest of my life?” I looked at him and said “Oh my gosh NO. YOU ARE NOT DOING THIS. ARE YOU REALLY DOING THIS!? HERE!?” Then a pause… I was like “GUYS. This is so mean, is this real? Are you joking?” Then Sam handed Jordan the ring box and he got down on his knee. The rest is a complete blur. “
“I thought I would bawl, surprisingly I was so overwhelmed I just squealed and said yes! Then we kissed a lot. We walked around the lake for about 2 hours. When we got back to the truck Jordan was able to tell me the entire speech he had planned and that’s when I bawled. It became real we were GETTING MARRIED. We then went to celebrate at Chateau Lake Louise for breakfast. It could not have been more perfect, even if I had planned it myself.”
We are SO excited for Jessyka and Jordan and cannot wait to see photos from their wedding at Emerald Lake next fall. We’re thankful they shared their story with us and know these incredible memories will make Banff a special place for their adorable little family for a lifetime. Happy Engaged Life!!!
