It is true what they say, behind every painting, there is a story. No matter the art form, each artist draws inspiration from someplace. At times, inspiration stems from Mother Nature or current occurrences. However, for most artists, inspiration originates from a muse—a person.
This is the case with the recent CJ + TWF styled editorial shoot for the White Files as they introduce Cathleen Jia x The White Files in a 15 piece collaborative wedding gown collection.
Trust us, the details are exquisite. Ella Zampatti, at The White Files, spoke to My Engaged Life about the launch. Ella shares, “We took the inspiration behind our collaborative collection with Cathleen Jia and brought it to life in a stunning editorial entitled ‘The Artist and Her Muse’.”
Ella continues to elaborate, “The shoot celebrates the artistic the process behind the collection including sketching, the draping of fabrics and exploring how the fabrics sit against the skin.”
Photographed by Jessica Abby, the aesthetics of the shoot (and overall collection) is minimal, simple, and clean. You’ll notice from the photos, as are the dresses. Okay, enough about the dresses, the photo location was just as impressive. Just how did the location match the artistic tone so perfectly?
Ella knows! She says, “We shot in Cathleen Jia’s bridal loft in Moorabbin, Melbourne – as that is where the magic happens. We’re proud that all pieces are handmade in Melbourne so we wanted to bring that connection to the production process through in the shoot.”
Truly, magic did happen as the white dresses still succeeded to pop out from the arty white and creamy setting.
While we adore all of the 15 pieces in the collection, piece number three has captured our hearts. Piece number three is a bias cut silk gown that flows into a simple yet elegant V-neck line. Simple. Chic. Just enough.
